European Directive 94/25/EC on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to recreational craft stipulates in Article 5.8 of Annex 1 that :

“ Craft shall be constructed so as to prevent the accidental discharge of pollutants (oil, fuel, etc.) overboard”.
